Raleigh Software Company Assists with Tornado Disaster Relief
Raleigh, NC – May 3, 2011 – Software from Raleigh-based Entigral Systems is tracking government-owned equipment used by disaster inspectors responding to the recent tornado damage across the southern states, including North Carolina and Alabama. Entigral Systems’ AssetTrax software enables a cadre of trained inspectors to respond rapidly to claims for assistance from victims of federally-declared disasters.
When a disaster strikes, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) engages the services of Housing Inspection contractors who deploy claims inspectors with special government-issued assessment equipment, including hardened laptops and cameras. Inspectors work directly with victims to document damage, electronically file claims, and get government assistance for eligible disaster damages. Inspectors’ equipment is shipped in from distant warehouses – quickly putting the proper equipment into inspectors’ hands as they head into the disaster zone is crucial to getting victims the help they need. This is where Entigral Systems’ software comes into play.
PaRR Inspections, a FEMA contractor based in Winchester, VA, uses Entigral Systems’ AssetTrax software to track equipment tagged with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensors. As equipment is shipped into disaster areas in North Carolina, Alabama and elsewhere, then issued to inspectors, AssetTrax ensures each inspector quickly gets the right equipment for the job. As the relief efforts finally wind down, AssetTrax will track the return of government property to the warehouse to be ready for the next disaster.
Utilizing advanced sensor-based technology like RFID, Entigral Systems’ software provides accurate inventory control and rapid turnaround while issuing equipment to inspectors in compliance with FEMA’s demanding response criteria. According to Doug Frost, Project Director and Senior Vice President of PaRR Inspections, “We use Entigral Systems’ AssetTrax software to track over 50,000 pieces of government-controlled property with very accurate inventory control and location management. We chose Entigral Systems because of its extensive experience with time-sensitive tracking challenges. And time is something we don’t have during federal emergencies.”
Booth Kalmbach, president of Entigral Systems, remarked, “We could not be more grateful to be of service to our home state of North Carolina during such a difficult time. It is an honor to see our technology at work in our back yard helping our neighbors put their lives back in order following the awful damage wrought across North Carolina by the storms of April 16, 2011. To our fellow North Carolinians, and to the storm victims of April 27, 2011, we extend our condolences.”
